So I slacked today, only to remember right now that I have homework to do
I had to interview 10 people about philosophy and ask three questions. The questions were:
What is philosophy?
Who is a philosopher?
What is the relevancy of philosophy for us today?
Once I have the answers, I need to look for patterns, and then summarize the results, which will be discussed in groups. And of course, in normal me fashion, this is due tomorrow
Either leave a comment here that answers the questions, and include your age (or make one up ). You can also use the contact page to answer if you wish.
Towards the end of my summer, I couldn’t wait to get back to school. Now that I’m here, I don’t want to be…and definitely won’t want to go to class in 9 hours.
I don’t know if its because I have unfinished business back home that I wanted to get done, or just because I’m like this at the beginning of every school year.
All I know is that I hate feeling this way, and don’t want to spend six hours in class later
Seeing how I move back onto campus in less than 12 hours, it is time to declare my summer over, and to take a look at the goals I made for myself and how they went.
The first two goals I’m not going to tell. But I will say that it looks as I didn’t meet them. Yeah, it sucks, because not meeting goals sucks in general. If you happen to be one of the two people (besides me) that knew what they were, you know how much it actually sucks. All I have to say is that there are 12 more hours before I leave, so hopefully I can get the biggie done. If not…in a month…when I will probably be back…for something…I apparently like mysteries…and using ellipses
The third goal was to make a theme. Well, I mashed a few themes together and this is what I came out with. It took me all summer to put together, probably because I couldn’t work more than an hour without being interrupted and having to do something else. I’m a bit surprised it took me that long. I like how it came out, and want to know what you think of it. Leave your thoughts about it here as a comment.
The fourth goal was to port a script from one IRC program to another. It’s not done, but it’s a lot further than where it was even a week ago, and there isn’t much work left until it’s done. Probably could finish it now if I felt like staying up til 4 again (still on Alaska time).
Fifth goal was to start up a site with a bunch of friends. The name is bought, and the site is online, but no work has really been done. It’s going to be interesting to see how this all works out with us being at different locations at least an hour away and not a quick 10 minute drive to the other side of town.
Now what goals do I want to set for myself for this upcoming semester? Well, let’s see:
Get at least 2 A’s and 2 B’s. Do well in the fifth class; C+ at the least.
As a mentioned in a rushed post slightly less than 4 hours ago, I have once again moved hosting companies…hopefully for the last time.
I was outgrowing the plan I was on, and couldn’t get a better deal than what just signed up for. Granted, should I ever use the amount of resources that are provided for me, I should probably start looking for a dedicated server, or at least a VPS.
So this site has been moved and set up, and it only took about 4 hours, which seeing as how this is the biggest site of mine, and how much work had to be done, wasn’t all that bad. Everything on the web is fine, at least to the best of my knowledge. The only thing in all that I know isn’t working is my email…which I hope will be working soon…there were some DNS issues, so I’m just hoping that it is what is accounting for the mail issue. Well, its a bit after 4AM, so I’m going to pass out and deal with moving the other site later, and then we’ll see what happens from there!
I’m switching to a new hosting account since I’m running out of room on this one. Since its at a different company, there may be some downtime until the DNS updates. Once everything is back to normal, things will be appearing a little bit different
I’ll be writing about what I’ve done so far tomorrow, a post that isn’t about the trip (and may not get published) before the trip is over, and a post about the second half of the trip on the plane ride home.
In the meantime, here’s a music video to take care of a Wednesday post.
I’ve left for the airport to go on vacation with the family. This year we’re going to Alaska since my mom and sister have never been there. About 5 years ago, my brother, dad, and I went on there on a Scouting trip, and it was awesome. Granted, this trip is going to be a little different, but its going to be a blast.
There should be enough travel time to allow me to finish a couple of projects. Don’t know if I’ll be able to connect to the internet at all, but there will be a new post when I get back.
The week I get back is going to be busy: get back, unpack and wash everything, then get ready to move on campus….basically get back and classes start a week later. Where did summer go?
Having just spent what seems like the past 10 hours working on the redesign, I am out of time today to write an actual post. All I will say is that the redesign is constantly improving everytime I work on it, and it will also bring a few new goodies to the site.
Now in a totally different direction, and because Steve Tyler can put what I’m feeling (no, not about the redesign) into words, here’s a video to listen to.
