New Year’s is one of those holidays that I don’t get the purpose of. So what if the year changes? Is it really worth a holiday? I don’t really think so. Other than April Fool’s Day (1 April), its the only day that isn’t celebrated for a religious holiday, a president’s birthday, or some other truly important day (i.e. 4 July in the US is Independence Day). I think that the only purpose that it serves is to give people another excuse to have a party, eat, and drink.
I’ve decided not to make any resolutions this year. Why? Well, year after year, I make the same resolutions, and don’t follow through with them. So why should I bother to think of resolutions that I’m probably going to forget in a few weeks, that I’m not even going to follow through with?
Well, now that I’ve hit my posting quota for the month
I guess I can go relax until next month

So let’s look at what I got. New camera bag and another compact flash card for the camera. The bag is nice and has plenty of room for everything I have so far and enough room left over so I can get more stuff (but it’s expensive, so if I get more stuff, it will be piece by piece), and the CF card is 1 GB, so I can fit plenty of pictures, more than I’ll ever take at once probably). Those were the two big items/the ones I asked for. I also got mostly gift cards (always nice, especially the Visa Giftcard one). Got a few other things as well.
Family came over…food was good. Exchanged presents, and I got money and another gift card.
And now for a few days of relaxation before I post a rant about New Year’s

How is it Christmas Eve 2006 already? It seemed like last Christmas was only a month ago. So let’s take a look at what has happened in this past year.
January - 16 May: Nothing, at least nothing that I can remember, since I didn’t have any posts in this time period.
May 17: Stopped posting at LiveJournal, and started FuzzyThoughts.
July: I went to the National OA Conference, my 3rd trip to the conference, and enjoyed it just as much, if not more, than the first two. I was making a new site (too bad it wasn’t publicized and didn’t get any traffic - I took it down). I got some tech toys that I still use a lot, and want to get some more.
August: Nothing worth repeating
September: Posted a few rants about things, mostly about people not understanding things they were complaining about on facebook.
October/November: Nothing worth repeating
December: Did a lot of admin stuff (transfered the domain to new hosting and registrar - price difference let’s me have another domain/hosting that’s being used for a new site that I’ll be finishing up and publishing in time for New Year’s. I’m applying to be an RA again, so we’ll see what happens with that.
Well, it seems that not many of the posts here have had any purpose…hopefully that won’t happen with the new site…if I follow through on the plan I have for it, it shouldn’t happen.
Merry Christmas, y’all.

So as I mentioned before, I’m applying to be an RA for next school year. Most of the application was easy, basic stuff that was easy to answer - mostly stuff like name, phone #, etc. Even three of the four open-ended questions that they ask were easy to answer after thinking for a minute or two. The application has been sitting on my computer, almost done except for one last question.
Discuss how your experiences at Quinnipiac have impacted you and how those experiences could enable you to be an effective Resident Assistant.
I’m pretty sure that they want more thought in this question than the others, and I have no idea what to write for it.
Oh well, I still have a more than a month until the application is due. I’m sure I’ll think about something by then.

Yesterday I switched domain registrars, because the one I was using would have wanted around $28 dollars when I renewed the domain name next year. I was a little nervous about if everything would transfer over smoothly, and it looks like it did.
The next move will be switching to a new host once I get time to look around. I need something that’s cheaper than what I’m using now. I love the service I get, but I don’t exactly have the income to keep paying $5 a month. This will move will be a bit more drastic, as everything will be moving to a new server, so there will be a little down time as the DNS entries for the site are updated. I’ll probably do this after finals are over, so I actually have time to monitor the move in case problems pop up unexpectedly…which I hope they won’t.
